So the past few weeks have been insane!! It all started with the Calgary Stampede and ended with a 5 day trip to Ontario. So many high points and just a few low points. So all in all, I’d say it was a pretty fantastic week
Only 5 years ago, the Stampede was just a great excuse to wear a cowboy hat and boots and get day drunk during the week. But since having kids the vibe has changed just a bit 😉 it’s still a good time, there’s just less alcohol. But don’t get me wrong, there’s still alcohol, just less and sitters are involved. I mean, lets be real, it’s probably needed more now than ever!
This year, it all started with the parade. Which if you’re from Calgary, you know the parade is a complete shit show and most sane people avoid it and downtown like the plague. Oh but not us! Nope we packed up the three year old and one year old on we travelled via train, no less! The crowd is nuts but definitely worth Kensi’s excitement (or so I’m telling myself that). I’m pretty sure the train was the highlight for her.
We also made it down to the fair for the rides and to walk around to check out all the animals. Again, Kensi and Ever loved it and it was “worth” the insanity that comes with parking, waiting in a 30 minute line for “food” (is food from a fair really food??), and the heat. My god the heat! It’s pretty much the surface of the sun with all the food trucks and rides radiating.
We got our Stampede fill pretty quick and were more than happy to leave town to go camping with Grandma and Grandpa! Camping was everything because, well…. smores and beer!! Oh and swimming and playing in the sand with the girls was the best! Kensi is all about making new friends these days. She found one particular girl whom spoke only French (which Kensi speaks not a word of) but they had a blast! She even taught Kensi how to “swim” with a pool noodle. Pretty much the cutest thing ever. Speaking of Ever, she is officially WALKING!!! We are so excited to have her and Kensi chasing each other! Obviously we aren’t there yet, but it’s so close. Despite the flight home being a complete disaster, (that’s an entire blog post all together 🙈) we made the best memories and can’t wait for our next trip!
