Last weekend we went to Banff with some friends and their kids. We only love 1.5 hours away and we do not take advantage of it enough!! In fact I would say we take it for granted that we love so close to the mountains. It’s seems until we go, we forget how lucky we actually are to live in this part of the world.
We left early on Friday as I wanted to spend the day walking around the town and let the girls get some fresh air as I knew we’d spend the rest of the time in the resort. I’m so glad we did. We stopped for coffee and then headed off to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s literally a castle that was originally built in 1888!! Since Canada isn’t the oldest country in comparison to over seas, buildings like this are few and far between, it seems. Kensi was obsessed with it! Of course her obsession with frozen (going on three years now 😳) helped. She really felt like we were in Arendelle and Elsa and Anna would walk around the corner any minute 😉 the best part is, it’s a super family friendly hotel. We stopped for a drink in the Rundle Room and they had a ton of activities for the girls to play with while Kev and I got our drink on! Well we each only had one drink but we’ll take what we can get 😜
After a few hours of touring around we checked into our cabin. We stayed at Douglas Fir Resorts. They have a hotel as well as individual cabins. We chose a 3 bedroom A frame. It was the cutest, coziest cabin ever! It certainly isn’t 5 star but that was the charm of it, as far as I’m concerned. Super clean and organized and that’s all you need. The resort has a pool with two water slides, an outdoor hot tub and a huge play area for the kids. It’s honesty a little Disneyland in the mountains. Ok maybe not quite that elaborate but for a 3 and 1 year old it was everything!
Every trip we take it seems to get easier as the girls get older. With that said poor Evie was teething like a Muther Effer and didn’t have the best nights. But aside from that we had a blast. There honestly is nothing better than watching your kids experience new things and see the mountains through their eyes. I can’t wait to go back and this time we won’t wait so long again!
One of the best caesars ever! They add cucumber juice and it seriously tasted soooo refreshing!
